Brian Dickerson was born and raised in New York City, in Harlem where he found his love for musical theater at a young age. Brian was a scholarship recipient of the Harlem School of the Arts and was inspired by performing in various choirs, classes and workshops. Brian received his first master’s degree in Vocal Performance from New York University and has demonstrated his passion for the well-being of his community, and aims to share his passion through theater, music and the performing arts. Brian is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and earned his second master’s degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University, where his practice has led him back to his hometown of Harlem in New York City where he is the Director of two Programs servicing people in need.

Mr. Dickerson soon launched his career into an international presence by performing in the Australian production of Show Boat, where he studied choreography and direction under Tony Award winners Harold Prince and Susan Stroman. Brian also showcased his talents in two Austrian performances of Porgy and Bess, at the world-renowned Gershwin Festival, then reappeared in Porgy and Bess in Berlin. He traveled to the Netherlands to perform with Andre Rieu as a featured recording soloist in the European film "Andre Rieu In Wonderland which was released on various major networks including PBS. He has also performed for additional worldwide locations including South Africa, Italy, France and many other European countries. Brian has also showcased his talents in Opera by securing a first-place finish in the prestigious Jan Pearce Operatic Competition.

His passion for the cultural arts is present and through this passion, Brian created Brian Dickerson Productions(BDP Entertainment, LLC) with a mission to showcase the beauty and talent of his people, who represent our vast and magnificent African diaspora. His hope is to also make the arts affordable to the residents of our communities, who are often priced out of being able to participate in various shows on Broadway.
